Homework Policy
(Being updated as per ABOE)
Homework is noted on the board daily, students are required to write their assignments in their planners and gather the necessary materials. The morning following a homework assignment, the students check their homework into the Inbox and the Homework Binder. If an assignment is incomplete, lost or been swallowed by a pet a new copy will be given for them to complete at the end of the week. If a student forgets their homework or materials please do not return to TBS to gather them. They can work on their assignment when they arrive in the morning unless other arrangements are made with myself. This will help to foster responsibility, follow through and self advocacy in the students. Help your child through their homework by: setting up a proper study area, establish daily routines without disturbances, encourage independence & incentives if necessary, praise them and don't hesitate to contact me if necessary. (See APS Homework Policy)
Absences
If your child is absent for any reason, we will do our best to keep track of all work that is missed in their absence.
They can complete it upon their return. (See APS Attendance Policy)
They can complete it upon their return. (See APS Attendance Policy)
Parent / Teacher ConferencesParent / Teacher Conferences are all set up digitally. This is a fantastic tool for working parents with schedules that are challenging and constantly evolving (myself included!) and allows for you to control your time selection. Click on the link, log in and Sign Up! If something comes up and you can't attend or you need to make a change you can. You can select another day/time that works for you OR you can contact another parent and ask if they'd be willing to help you out. I've used this for the past 3 years and the parents have loved it!
Parent / Teacher conferences can be scheduled through SignUpGenius.com.

Lunch, Snacks & RecessLunch is a daily 25 minute block of time and TBS lunches are GREAT! You can bring, you can buy, you can buy hot, you can buy deli - it's a good deal!
At this point our lunch time for next year has not been determined, but we will have snack time (typically in the morning). I recommend that you bring in a filling, healthy snack and you may choose to eat it during the morning or afternoon. There is no official, set snack time, but if you’re hungry then snack away as long as it’s not a distraction. Along the lines of snacks, Water Bottles are always welcome. In my classroom experience, I recommend no glass or metal water bottles. I have had glass bottles break/spill, as well as, metal bottles fall, getting bent/opening. A good, old fashioned plastic bottle is the safest bet, I just bought one from Dick's Sporting Goods for my child. :) NOTE: We do have a nut allergy in our class this year please keep this in mind when sending food/snacks into Room 117. Thank you! Recess is also a daily 25 minutes block of time and is outdoors unless there is inclement weather (rain, sleet, snow, below 21 degrees) so please dress accordingly. When weather is inclement recess will be indoors. Desk & LockersDesks and lockers are great and are really helpful in keeping us organized. The desks and lockers at TBS are not vast in space, so I encourage you to choose wisely in the size of your supplies for both your desk and locker. Your backpacks will go into your locker on a daily basis, so again, choose wisely in the size of your supplies. When the weather turns snowy you should have room in the bottom of your locker for your snow gear.
